Letter to Home

Every now and then I write a letter to home and realize how much I leave out of my blog. Below is kind of a snapshot of this past weekend. We did get water the following day thanks to a neighbor calling a repair man for us – no, the repair was not free.

Wrapping things up this week. I did an impromptu trip today with some very sweet Peruvian friends to a neighboring town and saw more ancient ruins of Peru. We had an unpleasant surprise this morning however. Someone during the night had robbed our water connection that has been exposed with the construction in the street. I awoke to the water arriving from the city and poring into the street. We received no water today because the city has yet to come and replace the part that was stolen. Right now there is no connection to our house. A good Samaritan helped us by at least plugging the tube so the city water would not run into the street. The city water comes twice a day for one hour. We have a water well but that has been used up as of today so we are currently rationing our water.

Last night was a rare night for parties too. This month is big for parities and there was one that went all night at the neighbors to our right (all night music that is so loud the door in your room vibrates.) The second party was across the street equally as loud. So it was quite a night followed by an interesting morning and day. Hopefully we will get water tomorrow.

Love, Marcelle
