Where I Am Going

July 31st is officially the end of my contract. I finish with all my sites on the 31st with exception to English program that I will honor for one more week as the students finish their cycle. My despedida/ going away/ birthday party extravaganza is August 6th. I am planning one more adventure that second week to see the Amazon in Peru before I return back home the third week of August.

Once home, I will have a visit with my father and his wife who are coming in from Taiwan to celebrate with me in Texas. We plan on getting lots of quality time with everyone while helping my sister and her family move from Dallas to Houston. I will be visiting and staying with my mother initially but will eventually be renting from my sister until they are able to sell their Dallas house.

My father’s visit will be followed by a small private spiritual retreat to East Texas and then I have enrolled in a 200 hour yoga intensive course mid-September in Dallas for one month. It will be a time of transition for me to absorb my experience and weather the reverse culture shock. I have kept up my yoga practice during the two years in Chimbote. It is one of my joys. Over the past two years I have introduced yoga to a handful of people in Chimbote and have had many express an interest to learn more. This has inspired me to deepen my practice so that I may share it more fully with others. At the moment, I have tentative plans to re-enter the nursing job market around November. After living in Latin America, where the people are so gifted at living in the present moment, I feel 4 months’ worth of plans is plenty for now.
